Urban Exploration
Something they don’t tell you is that your body
will turn into an abandoned building full of rats
and vines and broken glass, which is because
you have forgotten it entirely and it went to seed
and one day you will wake up to see what things
grew in the dark and it will surprise you that you
are something else now, having let it all go, having
left no one in charge but the dirt and crawling things
and when you occasionally wake from your care
frenzy you will register surprise at the state of things
but also gladness for what breached the hardwood
and split the grout because at least that’s something,
at least the building of your body is only different
and not dead yet, and I guess that’s kind of interesting
to a certain type of person who likes to visit cemeteries
and haunted houses and crash sites and there’s always
a chance your body will become a place for witches
or weird kids or maybe even a family of owls, who knows.
